Free Anti-Rabies Service Held at Payung Tunas Teratai RPTRA

Free anti-rabies vaccination is held in the Payung Tunas Teratai RPTRA, Cipayung, Thursday (10/4).

Vaccination is one of the Jakarta Provincial Government ways to maintain its territory that is free of rabies

East Jakarta Health and Agriculture Section Head, Irma Budiany disclosed that it is routinely conducted to welcome the 2018 World Rabies Day. There are 30 dogs and 70 cats vaccinated.

"Vaccination is one of the Jakarta Provincial Government ways to maintain its territory that is free of rabies. Because since October 2014, rabies has been rampant," she stated.

Her party also installed a microchip on 10 dogs. It is for identification of rabies transmitting animals. So if the animal is lost, it can be detected. Because each chip is completed by data and connected with detection devices stored in the Jakarta Sub-dept. office.

Cipayung Sub-district Head, Iin Mutmainnah added that locals are keep being urged to vaccinate their pets. Moreover this service is free of charge.

"We have socialized this service to the locals through local RT/RW apparatus and urban village head to do vaccination," she told.

One of pet owners, Yuli admitted that she is happy about the free vaccination program. Usually she does it to a veterinarian by spending Rp 250-300,000 per animal.

"We're greatly helped by this program. Hopefully it becomes a routine agenda," she hoped.
